YouTube has a lot to offer the ham radio operator: over 1000 videos! This week’s Surfin’ tells you all about it. After you read Surfin’, you can leave your comments back here.
By the way, Surfin’ is a weekly column published on ARRLWeb that finds and features Web sites that are related to Amateur Radio, specifically, and radio, in general. If you have any suggestions for Surfin’, please contact WA1LOU using the e-mail link to the right.
Great post. You can also use keywords like
ReplyDelete"DXpedition" (98 matches)
"Field Day" +radio (116 matchs)
or just narrow your search with phrases like
"Amateur radio" +contesting (51 matches)
There are some great videos out there!

ReplyDeleteStan, thanks for the ARRL posting. It will be interesting to see if the posting affects my viewing counts. I currently have over 116,000 total viewings with 400 subscribers with just over 1 year of being on youtube.
ReplyDeleteI have fun making these videos nd enjoy receiving email from hams all over the world. I think the videos encourage people to try new aspects of our hobby. I have received emails from people working hard on upgrading, that never tried PSK31 before, and hams working AO-51 after viewing the video. I think the feeling is the same that I have after I attend forums at a hamfest, I can't wait to get home and try something new. Many times it is easier than I thought! Watching someone do it first helps to break the ice.

If you search via Google Video rather than You Tube, you'll get many more hits. For example, try searching for "WRTC" or "NCDXF" using Google Video (http://video.google.com). You'll get all the YouTube hits plus the Google Video hits, none of which are found with a YouTube search.
