Surfin': Connecting With Mikes
Microphones are the topic, and five Web sites are our destination in this week’s installment of Surfin’. After you read it, you can leave your comments here.
Lot of great info on wiring up rigs, but since there are alot of interesting mikes out there and they may not work straight up with a given rig, it would be interesting to put up data on stuff like matching a hi Z mike to a 600 ohm rig input, or matching a low impedance balanced mike to a 600 ohm or hi Z classic rig, etc. too. I think the guys with the old AM rigs like to play with different mikes but I think they are mostly hi Z input and modern mikes won't necessarily match so they can utilise the hi fi or other response characteristics, or experiment. I have a Shure 444 and would like to try it on a Ten Tec rig but I think I will have to make a circuit to match the 100k mike to the 600 ohms rig. Maybe use a fet with the 9 volts from the rig connector.
